A BOLTON MP says the release of £350m in funding for children with special educational needs and disabilities is "fantastic news".

The government announced this week that the extra cash would be invested over the next two years.

Chris Green, representative for Bolton West, said: “Every child deserves to achieve the absolute best in life and that includes children with special educational needs.

“I’ve seen first-hand the excellent work carried out in the constituency for SEND children and I’m always impressed when I visit Rowan Tree Primary School and Rumworth School as well as seeing the tailored support provided by mainstream schools in my constituency.

“This £350m funding boost for SEND, building upon the £1bn increase seen in the last five years, is fantastic news and will help ensure that SEND children and their families continue to get the educational support they need.”

The government says these funds will also help to further support the Education, Health and Care plans introduced by the five years ago, which provide support for children with SEND and their families.
