IN the new year, follow the yellow brick road to the The Barlow, and enjoy the unique and magical story of the The Wizard of Edgworth.

Following the huge success of the Edgworth's pantomime last year — when the village Christmas show was revived for the first time in many years — family fun is again guaranteed.

This year Anthony Appleton and Lauren Dickenson who directed last year's panto are putting on a production of The Wizard of Edgworth, involving the children and teenagers who attend Appleton Dickenson Acting Academy acting classes at The Barlow.

The story based on the much loved story, tells of Dorothy and her dog Toto lost in an unfamiliar land, inhabited by the Edgies, witches and flying monkeys. They need to find their way back to Kansas. Dorothy embarks on a quest with her new friends, Scarecrow, Tinwoman, and the Cowardly Lion to see The Wizard.

With lots of twists and surprises along the way, will Dorothy’s dreams come true somewhere over the rainbow?

The play is billed as being lots of fun for children and adults too in the production that celebrates Edgworth, surrounding villages and Bolton.

The play opens on Friday, January 25 at 7pm. It will show on Saturday, January 26 at the same time with a matinee at 1pm on Sunday, January 27.

The show will also take to the stage on Saturday, February 2 at 7pm and a 1pm showing on Sunday, February 3.
