Here are our five top things to do or visit this weekend.
This Saturday the Victoria Hall will be playing host to Eagley band in support of Bolton Hospice. The Eagley Gala Christmas concert will begin at 7:30pm and tickets cost £5.00 each. The band formed in 1850 and is conducted by Chris Wormald, who has also conducted the award winning Smithills Brass band. Tickets are available from Smithills School, Bolton hospice reception, www.boltonmethodistmission.org.uk/events, www.egertontickets.com and on the door.
Bolton’s winter festival will be in full swing this weekend. There is an indoor ice rink, festival Tepee bar and Santa will be in his grotto in the Albert Halls. The ice rink is situated in the middle of Victoria Square with tickets costing £7.50 for adults and £4 for children. The Tepee bar will be serving a mixture of hot and cold drinks, including mulled wine, as well as hosting live music. Sweet treats such as muffins and topped waffles will also be on offer.
One of Disney’s greatest ever classic characters has returned to our screens this week. Emily Blunt brings Mary Poppins to life on the big screen for “Mary Poppins Returns”. She is joined on screen by Grammy, Tony, Emmy and Pulitzer prize winner Lin Manuel Miranda, as well as BAFTA winner Julie Walters. Little Rascals Kid’s club will be hosting free activities in the Market Place this weekend. A virtual reality sleigh ride will be available this weekend so that kids can experience what life might be like for Father Christmas. The group will be there from 11am on both Saturday and Sunday. A chance to offer some light relief for parents on the busiest weekend of the year!
Pantomime season is well and truly upon us. Oh no it isn’t! The Albert Halls in Bolton is staging “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” until the December 30. Benidorm’s Michael Starke stars alongside X-Factor’s Sam Callaghan. Tickets are £14 each and can be booked online at: http://www.alberthalls-bolton.co.uk/.
