A NURSERY is spreading festive joy to some of the town's most vulnerable and lonely people this Christmas.

Children at Horwich Day Nursery have made Christmas cards with special messages inside, along with hampers filled with items, which they are giving to the homeless and those in need.

Nursery proprietor Sheen Dad said: "Thankfully most of us will never find ourselves in a position where we do not know where our next meal will be or where we will be sleeping at night.

"However there are many who find themselves in this situation. We ask that over the festive period we take a moment to be thankful for what we have and contribute if you wish to, as it will help brighten the day of a person in need."

She added: "The children have worked really hard on their gifts and have really understood that the less fortunate of us do need help.

"We at Horwich Day Nursery not only believe in supporting the homeless and vulnerable but also ensure our children recognise the benefits of helping others in need.

"We would like to thank the children’s parents and Horwich Parish Primary School who have supported Horwich Day Nursery in this cause and we look forward to working together on many more beneficial causes in the near future.

"Furthermore, a thank you to the staff at Horwich Day Nursery as they have provided continuous support to all of the children and for all of their hard work."
