CHRISTMAS and the new year can be sentimental times for people with some reflecting on the past and others looking to the future with renewed optimism.

For one Bolton couple, they know what the future will hold — it will be the death of a wife and mum aged just 50.

But for Cleo Seddon, who tied the knot with partner Keith in Bolton Hospice in October and they were told it was unlikely that she would survive until Christmas.

For Cleo, who is dying of lung disease, the most important thing is making the most of each day and time with her loved ones.

She is not thinking about what she could have had or what she will be missing out on.

She and her family are just grateful for the time they have together, especially as her health has deteriorated recently and on a couple of occasions, doctors thought the time had come.

Cleo left Bolton Hospice three weeks ago and is determined to spend what time she has left with those who matter to her the most.

She hopes to see her son Tommi-Jai’s 21st birthday in April but in the meantime, she is enjoying each day as it comes.

This will be the most precious Christmas and new year for the family and puts into perspective all the resolutions and plans many of us make for the year ahead.

It is easy to take for granted the things and people that are special to you, so let’s join Cleo and Keith in focusing on the things that really matter in 2019.
