MORE than 700 crimes were recorded since January, 2018, in the Heaton and Lostock area.

According to a presentation by Greater Manchester Police at the Heaton and Lostock Area Forum on November 7, of the 753 crimes, 122 were burglary, 119 were theft from motor vehicles and 60 were criminal damage.

There were also 92 instances of other theft.

Sergeant Gary Howard told the forum that the issues they are currently dealing with include anti-social behaviour behind the Beaumont Arms pub and vehicle nuisance on the Ladybridge Community Centre car park.

Car problems are a particular focus for the police generally because of continued to parking issues around schools and theft from vehicles.

The GMP said it has already made several arrests of offenders targeting vehicles and seized vehicles that have caused annoyance in the area.

Arrests were also made after reports of disorder were received.

The police added that additional lighting has been requested for the Beaumont Arms and community centre car parks.
