Residents from neighbouring streets are sharing their shock.

Another Broadway resident said: "There were lots of police around, an ambulance and a helicopter.

"It's a very nice, quiet neighbourhood.

"I would never have expected anything like this."

Broadway is a residential street, leading to a public footpath surrounded by woods and the Pretoria Pit memorial.

The footpath runs alongside Upton Road and Greenfield Road.

An eyewitness said: "There was heavy police presence and ambulance and a rapid response team.

"When we arrived around 9ish we couldn't gain access to the farm via Broadway due to it being blocked and taped off.

"They left around 2ish and we were aware that a body had been taken away.

"At that point we were not aware it was a young girl."

A post on the Atherton Residents Association Facebook group at 10:22am yesterday described the scene.

A resident said: "Does anyone know what happened near and around Broadway lots of police and ambulances has also been taped off!"
