MOTORISTS should expect high levels of disruption on a number of key streets this week as authorities install a new gas main, complete gas works and replace a manhole cover.

Multi-way signals will be in place on Radcliffe Road, between Long Lane and Ormond Street, beginning on Monday.

The signals are to allow for Cadent Gas to complete gas repair works underneath the road. This will continue until Friday, January 25.

On Station Road, Blackrod, two-way signals will be in place during off-peak hours until Wednesday, January 16.

This will continue while engineers from Electricity North West excavate a large section of footpath to allow them to install new supply cables.

Other electricity works will cause disruption in Lee Lane, Horwich, where engineers are excavating a different section of footpath.

This is to begin on Tuesday, January 15, and run until work is completed on Monday, January 21.

Briggs Fold Road will also be closed, beginning on Friday, January 18, this is to allow United Utilities Water engineers to complete works.

This involves replacing the frame and cover of a manhole in the street.

Several roads will remain shut as they meet Halliwell Road to allow for the removal of gas pipe that is more than a century old.

This impacts the junctions with Back Ewart Street and Gladstone Street until Tuesday, February 5, as well as causing closures on Halliwell Road itself between Eskrick Street and Gladstone Street, which will last until Thursday, April 25.
