AS publicity for new shows go — this certainly took some beating.
A rickshaw in Bolton is certainly not something you see in Bolton every day but it was the perfect prop to advertise a showing of the popular comic opera The Mikado.
Resplendent in their costumes, pictured in the unusual form of transport are Ralph Vardy — in the driver's seat — and actor Bernard Killeen from New Rosemere Amateur Operatic Society, which is know for its fabulous Gilbert and Sullivan productions.
Bernard, who played Ko Ko, is pictured with Ralph cycling from the Christian Traidshop in St George's Craft Centre to Bolton Town Hall, where the musical was showing in February 1988.
The show ran for a week.
