POLICE have launched a murder investigation after the body of a woman was found in Swinton.

Police were called by the ambulance service at around 10.40pm last night to a property on Bolbury Crescent, Swinton.

The body of a woman – believed to be in her 40s – was found in a car outside the address.

A scene remains in place at the property while forensic investigations are carried out.

A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Andrew Naismith of GMP’s Salford Division said: “The investigation is in its early stages and our thoughts are firmly with the victim’s family at this difficult time.

“We have a team of detectives working to piece together what has happened in the moments before the woman was found.

“While we have made one arrest, our enquiries remain ongoing.

“We would urge anybody with information about the incident to please get in touch.”
