LONG delays are being reported after a crash left a major road covered in oil and diesel.
Greater Manchester Police said the road surface was left unsafe after a crash on the westbound Mancunian Way, in Manchester this afternoon.
One land of the road, heading towards Salford, was closed at the junction where cars join the Mancunian Way and also turn off the Deansgate/Chester Road roundabout.
A clean up operation is underway and the incident is causing lengthy delays across the area.
In a tweet, GMP Traffic said: "Delays on the Westbound Mancunian Way.
"An earlier RTC has thrown a large quantity of oil/diesel onto the road surface making it a very dangerous surface to drive on, particularly for any motorcyclists.
"Lane one must remain closed while we await @ManCityCouncil for clean up."
