A FUNDRAISER is being held for funeral of the teenage girl whose body was found in woodland last week.

Alicia Sidebotham, 19, was born in Billinge and lived in Hatton Avenue, Atherton. Her body was sadly found in a “secluded area” in Over Hulton woods.

Tributes poured in from friends in the following days, they are now hoping to raise money with a night in her memory at her favourite club.

The Indiependence Nightclub in Wigan will host A Night for Alicia on Thursday. Organiser and venue DJ Dave Sweetmore knew Ms Sidebotham as she enjoyed going to the club every week with friends.

He said: “She was well into the music scene around Wigan and Manchester.

“The idea came about of doing a night. I spoke to her friends and found out her favourite bands. These are the bands she actually used to listen to when she was getting ready to go out.”

The three bands performing include the Della Noirs, Pink Shirts for Pale People and The Lathums.

Mr Sweetmore added: “The bands are playing for free, all the staff are working for free. It’s all for Alicia.”

The event will begin at 8pm and ends at 2am. Entry is £5 on the door, with all proceeds going to Ms Sidebotham’s family. Collections will also be taking place, anyone looking to donate more money or items for auction can contact Dave Sweetmore on Twitter.
