BOLTON Wanderers supporters criticised club owner Ken Anderson in a heated fans forum held this evening.

Attendees directed questions to a panel of experts, with topics touching on the future of the club, the owners recent actions and what the EFL can do to create change.

BBC Radio Manchester presenter Mike Minay was joined by club legend John McGinlay, reporter Jack Dearden, Maggie Tetlow of the Bolton Wanderers Supporters' Trust and chief football writer at The Bolton News Marc Iles.

One fan, Peter Fog, said: "In attending my first game at the age of 11, I'm now 56, I would honestly say this is the lowest I've ever felt about going to a Wanderers game, about what's going on on the pitch and off it.

"The question is, apart from finding £30m underneath a mattress that apparently Mr Anderson wants for the club, what can we do as fans to change who runs it?"

Wanderers supporters have been hit with a barrage of bad news over the course of this season, with poor league form and financial difficulties creating hostility towards the club.

As a result, fan groups have organised a mass protest to take place during Monday night's game against West Brom, which will be shown on Sky Sports.

But some supporters have asked why the governing body of the English leagues, the EFL, has not stepped in to do more.

Addressing the crowd, Ms Tetlow said: "We've never had much headway with the EFL, we've written to them on numerous occasions to find out exactly what they're doing about certain situations that have happened in the past and we've recently been back on to them again but we've heard nothing from them, nothing at all. We've not even had a response."

Others asked about the situation on field, with questions brought up about the club's league future and whether relegation is likely.

When asked if the current team could survive in the Championship, Mr McGinlay said: "I think with the current tactics and the way we're set up by the manager, no.

"I also believe we could do much better with the squad we've got if they were set up properly, I come away from games thinking we've not given it a go. I feel cheated every time I go to a game because I look at us and I go, well if we're going to go down roll your sleeves up and go down, but go down with a bit of pride and a bit of fight."
