EMERGENCY services rushed a woman to hospital after she was cut out of a vehicle following a crash this afternoon.

Fire crews were called to the scene of a collision between two cars on the corner of Bridgeman Street and High Street, close to Heywood Park and just outside the town centre, at around 5.15pm.

Police have since confirmed that there were "no life-changing or life-threatening injuries" as a result of the crash.

Ambulance services also attended and the street was closed off while they dealt with the incident.

Onlookers reported seeing firefighters cut a woman from the back seat of one of the vehicles.

The incident occurred close to Clarendon Primary School and the High Street Library.
