WITH pantomime season in full swing, Victoria Hall ADS bring us their version of Aladdin.

The show is set in Old Peking, China, where Aladdin battles the evil Abanazar in his bid to gain the magic lamp with the help of the magical Genie and the Slave of the Ring.

Hannah Park was excellent as Aladdin and has a very good vocal range and worked well with Katie Barnes as the Princess.

Natalie Quinn as the Genie of the Lamp was perfect for the role as was Leanne Baily as the slave of the ring.

Matt Wilkinson as the likeable Wishee Washee was great and his interaction with the audience was spot on.

Complimenting Matt was seasoned Dame, Barry Massey who didn’t disappoint providing much of the scripts one liners. Perfect costumes too.

Brendan Higgins and Anthony Johnson as Bing and Bong provided much of the early comedy in the show and worked well together.

David Walsh as Abanazer was good too and really got the boos and hisses that the character deserves. Chris Hilton coped admirably with his malfunctioning head gear as a perfect Emperor.

The juvenile chorus dancers supported the principle actors with their tight choreography and frequent quick costume changes.

There were renditions of Baby Shark and A Whole New World while amongst the jokes, Bolton Wanderers seemed to be a favourite.

The comic acting from the main cast was rather good too and the script had the required level of playful innuendo needed for parents to be checking their children’s faces for signs of reassuringly blissful ignorance.

With colourful costumes and set, this traditional pantomime had all the usual ingredients which the audience loved.

There are still two performances left so get yourself down to the Victoria Hall.
