FIREFIGHTERS rushed to the scene of a blaze to find that vandals had set fire to a group of bins.

Two fire engines from Bolton Central station were sent out to a home in Tonge Moor Road after reports of a fire behind a set of houses.

On arrival at the scene at around 3.45pm, firefighters found that the blaze had been started inside some wheelie bins in a bin store at the back of the properties.

Residents claimed the fire was started by a group of children who were later seen running away from the area.

Last week, firefighters from Bolton North warned homeowners not to put their rubbish out until the day of collection to avoid vandals starting fires.
