YOBS set fire in a children's play area this afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the playground off Waggon Road and Romiley Crescent in Breightmet just before 5pm.
The fire destroyed part of the safety flooring.
Watch Manager Craig Cubbins said: "The fire destroyed about a square foot of the turf.
"We were there for about 20 minutes."
He warned that with local authorities being tight on cash, attacks on play areas like this could stop future generations of children enjoying such facilities.
