The M6 has been reopened in both directions following damage to an overhead power cable.
The road was closed at around 4.30am this morning.
Traffic was at a standstill between junctions 16 near Stoke-On-Trent and 17 near Sandbach. A signed diversion was put in place.
At 6.53am, Highways England announced that repairs to the power cable were complete and the carriageway was being reopened.
At 7.19am, lanes in both directions had been reopened with five and a half miles of congestion southbound and just over five miles northbound.
