TWO public consultation events on plans for a new neighbourhood in Bolton town centre will take place this week.

Church Wharf will be the first phase of the council’s £1bn masterplan for town centre regeneration.

The £150m plan could see 320 homes created alongside a new park, hotel and footbridge.

The project follows the River Croal from Bank Street through to Church Bank, with many of the new buildings set to sit in the shadow of Bolton Parish Church.

Developer behind the project, Muse, launched a consultation on initial proposals earlier this month.

The firm expects to submit a planning application in Spring 2019 with a decision from Bolton Council expected in the summer.

The council will support the scheme using the £100m it has set aside for use in its masterplan dealings.

Drop-in consultation events will be held at Unit 11, next to Warren James, in Crompton Place Shopping Centre.

They will take place on Friday between 12pm to 6pm and on Saturday between 10am and 4pm.

Residents can submit their views online, by email, letter or phone.
