BOLTON comic Peter Kay should today be presented with the award for Best Comedy after his co-star said she would bring it round to him after collecting it last night at the glittering National TV Awards.

Broadcast live on ITV, co-star Sian Gibson collected the award.

The award was presented by fellow Bolton comedian Paddy McGuinness, who said: "It's only Car Share," before adding "Where is he, he's not here!"

But Sian, who plays Keeley, said she would present Peter with the award.

She said: "We did not expect that. Thank you so much. It's amazing to get our third award for Car Share, for the final so we won't be here again.

"Thank you so much everyone, thank you Peter, who is not here tonight. I will bring it round tomorrow."

The ITV show The Chase, featuring Bolton quizzers Jenny Ryan and Anne Hegerty, who both play for The Bob's Smithy in the Bolton Premier Quiz League, won the award for best TV quiz show.

The hit BBC series took the award ahead of Benidorm, Big Bang Theory and Jack Whitehall: Travels with his Father.
