A MOTHER and two young daughters found dead at their home in Little Lever were known to social services.

Tiffany Stevens and her daughters Casey, aged three, and Darcey, aged one, are understood to have been known to Bolton Council social services.

The young family were found dead in their home in Arthur Street on Monday afternoon.

A serious case review into their deaths is expected to be carried out by Bolton Council and its partners.

A spokesman for Bolton council said: "We are deeply saddened by this tragic event and our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.

"The incident is subject to an ongoing investigation and we are not in a position to comment any further at this stage."

Early on police ruled out carbon monoxide as a cause of death and have said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

Further details are expected in the coming weeks once Greater Manchester Police have received details of toxicology reports. This could take six or seven weeks.

Following the deaths of the mother and daughters from Little Lever heartfelt tributes were shared online and cards, toys and flowers have been left outside their home.

Police enquiries into the deaths are still ongoing.
