A local MP is urging Mayor Andy Burnham to put more police on the streets.
Chris Green MP has called on the Greater Manchester Police and Crime Commissioner to provide more resources to Atherton, after residents have become concerned about rising levels of crime in the area, including a recent stabbing on the main shopping street.
Mr Green said: “It’s concerning to hear my constituents tell me that they are seeing increases of both anti-social behaviour and violent crime in Atherton and I have long-been calling for increased funding for our police, so that they have the resource they need to prevent crime.
