A YOUNG heroine has successfully raised over a thousand pounds to help children with cancer.

Madison Hughes, aged 10 from Horwich, brought in £1,250.25 in donations on her Just Giving page, after pledging to cut her hair for the Little Princess Trust. The charity uses donated hair and money to make wigs for young people suffering with hair loss, particularly after cancer treatment. Madison more than tripled her original target of £400 and the total will make three wigs. She said: "It was fun but I think my mum was a bit more scared than I was!"
