A SECONDARY school and leisure centre are reopening today after being forced to close temporarily.
Westhoughton High School, in Bolton Road, and Westhoughton Community Leisure Centre, located behind the school, had to shut on Thursday due to a power cut.
The power cut had been caused by a fault on overhead electrical lines and affected more than 330 properties.
All classes and bookings at the leisure centre had to be cancelled and a Year 9 parents evening due to take place at Westhoughton High School had to be rescheduled to February 12.
However both intituitions have this morning confirmed that they will be back open again today after the electricity board completed the necessary work to fix the issue.
A spokesperson for Electricity North West said: “A fault on our overhead line caused the loss of power to 332 customers in Westhoughton yesterday morning at 9.01am.
“173 customers were restored within an hour and the remaining customers were restored by 2.57pm.
“If any customers would like any further information they can contact us on the free national number 105 or on Twitter @ElectricityNW.”
