A CAR went off road into a field when it crashed through a fence this morning.
A white BMW crashed through a fence in Chew Moor Lane, Westhoughton, ending up in a field there with damage to the front bumper and causing the air bags to go off.
Police officers attended the scene and said both the driver and passenger in the car fled the scene after the crash.
The car has since been recovered from the field say officers.
On Twitter Greater Manchester Police officers who attended said: "One of our patrols went to an RTC in @GMPwesthoughton earlier today.
"Driver & passenger ran off for some reason, prior to our arrival.
"Vehicle went through a fence & into a field.
"Vehicle now recovered."
