A FORMER community snooker club could be about to be demolished.
Farnworth Snooker Club, in Church Street, has been closed since late September last year, and now Bolton Council has been notified that it is set to be pulled down.
The application was made by Stacey Jones, who is part of Polly Properties in Kearsley with Paul Riley, the firm has been involved in a number of pub and bar projects, including Ye Olde Three Crowns, in Market Street.
The two-storey building, located next to St Gregory's, home of the famous Phoenix Club from Peter Kay's legendary comedy Phoenix Nights, is said to be in poor condition and “beyond repair”, with the extension at the back of the property described as “imminently dangerous”.
Construction work on the building began late last month and scaffolding is currently in place around the premises.
