Anthony Locke was hit as he crossed Topp Way, Bolton, on October 6 2017 and died later in hospital.
At Bolton Crown Court Navnit Tailor, aged 69,of Queensgate, Bolton, pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving. Members of 72-year-old Mr Locke's family were in court for the hearing.
Tailor had been driving an Audi A4 when it struck Mr Locke on the Friday evening.

He added: "Mr Tailor reached a conclusion that he would be able to avoid Mr Locke once he saw him in the road. He was wrong about that."
