BOLTON town centre could undergo a number of major changes by 2030 as Bolton Council works on its £1bn masterplan.

The ambitious blueprint will see the authority and private investors combining to redevelop five key zones in the heart of the town.

Plans for Trinity Gateway were revealed today, showing a 20-storey residential tower block, a new set of offices and a multi-story car park to be built on a site on the corner of Trinity Street and Bradshawgate.

The proposals were unveiled by Bolton Regeneration Limited (BRL) which is a private consortium also involved in plans to update Crompton Place Shopping Centre.

The council bought the retail centre last year and it is the subject of a £250m upgrade plan.

BRL has also been invited to take part in two of the other 'intervention zones' that are listed as part of the masterplan.

These include Croal Valley, close to Chorley Street and Deansgate, and Cheadle Square, near Bolton Market and Great Moor Street.

In addition, details of Muse Developments work on the Church Wharf site were revealed last month.

The £150m project follows the River Croal from Bank Street through to Church Bank, with much of the development set to sit in the shadow of Bolton Parish Church.

It is set to include the creation of 320 homes alongside a new park, hotel and a bridge which will run down from the site of the former Late Club on Bank Street.

The firm expects to submit a planning application in Spring 2019 with a decision from Bolton Council expected in the summer.
