RAIDERS drove into a supermarket in an early morning robbery.
A vehicle was driven into the shutter and through the main doors of the Co-op store in Chorley New Road, Horwich, shortly after midnight on Wednesday.
The entrance suffered extensive damage and the foyer of the store was littered with piles of shattered glass. The store closes at 11am so no customers or staff were at the scene.
A member of staff told The Bolton News: “We have had to close the store and, at the moment, I can’t say when we will re-open.”
Door repairers were busy replacing the shutter and glass doors yesterday.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “We received a call at 12.27a.m. A quantity of cigarettes was stolen.”
Anybody with information should contact police on 101.
