AN all star line up featuring Russell Watson, and JB Gill from boy band JLS will take to the stage in Bolton — and people can watch them perform for free.

They will perform at the Victoria Hall when the BBC comes to Bolton to record Songs of Praise Young Choir of the Year.

The BBC revealed the line-up just weeks after announcing the popular Sunday television show Songs of Praise and the annual Songs of Praise Young Choir of the Year will be filmed in the historic venue.

Current Young Choir of the Year Shalom Chorale will be performing with JB Gill during Songs of Praise before both join Russell — the people's tenor — who recently performed in the Bridgewater Hall and renowned singer and television presenter Carrie Grant and favourite Aled Jones for Young Choir of the Year.

Aled and Russell will perform songs from their new album "In Harmony".

Emyr Afan the Co- Executive Producer of Songs of Praise said: "We’re thrilled to be coming to Victoria Hall for Songs of Praise and our Young Choirs competition, which is one of our annual highlights.

We’ve had a fantastic response so far and we’re hoping the hall will be full for all three recordings. It will be a weekend to remember."

Songs of Praise will be filmed at the the Victoria Hall on Friday, March 8 and the Young Choir of the Competition on March 9 and 10.

All celebrity judges and performances will be on both days of the choir competition.

Josh Orme, facilities manager and events co-ordinator, said: "Tickets are selling fast but there are still available for the events.

"Tickets are free. Russell Watson was in Manchester performing with an orchestra and he will be performing at the Victoria Hall with choirs.

"The singers will appeal to all ages and when will you ever to get to see these people together perform for free."

He added: "Having Songs of Praise at Victoria Hall will showcase Bolton across the nation. It is going to be really good."
