EXPECT queuing traffic on the M602 after motorists were held during an incident.
All lanes were closed between junctions one and two on the motorway during the incident, which has been reported as a concern for welfare.
North West Motorway Police initially said they had put "a block in place" at junction two, Eccles, while Greater Manchester Police dealt an incident.
A short time later both directions were closed to vehicles.
Motorway police Tweeted: "Closures remain in place on the eastbound and westbound prior to junction two whilst we continue to work along side all the emergency services dealing with a police-lead incident on the over bridge."
The incident was "safely resolved" by about 3.15pm and all lanes were reopened.
