KEN Anderson has stunned staff at Bolton Wanderers by failing to apologise for not paying their February wages.

The club owner did appeal for “continued patience” from 400 full and part-time employees in an email seen by The Bolton News, sent this lunchtime.

Staff were due to be paid on Thursday and had been offered no reason until earlier today when Anderson admitted the due diligence process being undertaken by potential buyers – believed to be the Football Ventures consortium – has taken longer than initially anticipated.

Anderson claimed wages “would be paid” but hinted that it would only happen once a sale had been concluded.

He added that he hoped a sale would go through as quickly as possible – but that the delay had enabled him to open talks with two other potential buyers.

Anderson’s brinkmanship has been poorly received by staff and club sources claim some part-time employees at the Whites Hotel have threatened to walk out.
