BOLTON'S most successful business brains assembled for Bolton Professionals Curry Club.

The curry club has been meeting regularly for 11 years and Wednesday's meeting was

Organised by KBL Solicitors, 45 lucky invitees sampled some of the best curries in town while networking at Horwich Indian restaurant, Spice Valley.

Guests took their seats for a presentation by Jerry Glover MBE, the former chief executive of Bolton Lads and Girls Club.

The club, which traces its history back to1889, became the model for OnSide Youth Zones. Not only does the youth organisation have ten locations across the region, it is now making the move to the capital with four of its five new sites for the next two years destined for London.

It was not always this way though, said Mr Glover, who showed guests images of a worn basketball court while explaining how the group had nothing in the 1990s.

Mr Glover spoke of his experiences as one of the leaders of the club at the time, helping to turn a floundering youth club into the hugely successful organisation it is today, inspiring and nurturing Bolton's most vulnerable young people.

To solve the problem of dwindling members of the youth groups, he asked: "What if we invited the kids into the best buildings in town?"

The leaders then began a fundraising campaign to move to a central location and provide better facilities.

Mr Glover said that he felt Bolton's business community had always supported the town's young people since the industrial era and once again, companies showed up to contribute to the dying club. He said: "The business community stepped up stepped up to mark and fill the gap every single time."

KBL Solicitors partner, Phil Stephenson, took the opportunity to thank Mr Glover on behalf of the attendees. This was was then followed by and question and answer session with Mr Glover, conducted Dave Jones of Progressive Business Mentoring.
