A SUSPECTED shooting in Farnworth has left residents shocked and scared.
Police were called to Bradford Road yesterday and are understood to be investigating reports of a shooting, according to local people.
Cllr Hamid Khurram, who lives on the same road where the incident happened yesterday, said residents were "extremely worried".
He said a woman had a been in a house praying when she heard a loud bang and saw that her front window had been smashed.
"I went to see her and she was really distressed and scared," he said, "Nothing like this has ever happened around here before."
The police were first called to the scene at around 1.30pm but returned to speak to neighbours at 3.30pm before returning again around 7pm, when the street was cordoned off, according to residents.
They said they saw crime scene investigators around the home but police left around an hour later.
Last night police posted a message on their social media accounts advising motorists Bradford Road had been closed between Minerva Road and Silverdale Road due to 'unforseen circrumstances'.
The road was closed for around an hour before being reopened just before 9pm.
We have approached Greater Manchester Police for a response.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Bradford Road will be closed between Minerva Road and Silverdale Road, near to Royal Bolton Hospital. Please make alternate route plans and sorry for the inconvenience. I will update as soon as I can provide further information.
