THE Bolton News is doing its part in helping the efforts to end period poverty.

From today, the Bolton News office is now a donation centre for sanitary products.

Uniting with the period poverty initiative, the Red Box Project, any tampons, towels, underwear and tights will go to 26 schools across Bolton which need help in providing products to young girls.

The main demographic is young people ages ten to 18, with the most sought after items being pads of all shapes and sizes.

You can donate items with various absorbencies, with wings and without, as well as hypo-allergenic and sensitive products. To ensure cleanliness, all products must be fresh and wrapped. Tampons and pads should be in their sealed boxes, preferably from brands which show an expiry date on the products.

Drop by our reception in The Wellsprings, Victoria Square and get donating!

The Bolton branch of the Red Box Project is also hosting its own event tomorrow, supporting businesswomen in the town.

From 10am to 3pm at Horwich Community Centre, there will be a family market day with stalls from female business owners in the area and live music from local female acts. There will also be games and facepainting. The entry fee is £1 or a donation of sanitary products, all in aid of ending period poverty.
