A BOLTON MP has quizzed the government on future plans for grassroots football.
Sir David Crausby asked sports minister Mims Davies what the government would do to improve access to all-weather and school sports pitches and what representation she had received from the Premier League about funding.
Ms Davies, MP for Eastleigh, said Sport England invests £18m each year into sports facilities each year and aims to "significantly improve" facilities over the next decade.
She added: "I met with the Premier League on January 31 2019. The Secretary of State met with them on October 30 2018.
"The funding of grassroots football was discussed, and on both occasions the Premier League reaffirmed their commitment to invest over £100m in each of the next three years towards improving community football programmes and facilities across the whole of the country in partnership with the Football Association (FA) and government."
