A TEENAGE boy has been taken to hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Smithills.
The boy, who is believed to be aged 13, has been taken to Royal Bolton Hospital with minor knee injuries.
Emergency services were called to Smithills Dean Road outside Smithills School where a grey Citroën Berlingo had collided with the teenager.
A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said: "We were called shortly before 3.30pm to Smithills Dean Road.
"We have taken a patient to hospital."
An ambulance and a rapid response vehicle were called to the scene. Police also attended.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "We were called shortly after 3.30pm to a report of a collision between a car and pedestrian.
"A boy had been hit by a van in Smithills Dean Road.
"He was taken to hospital as a precaution."
