A KEY junction has been closed as police deal with a 'serious' crash this morning.
Emergency services were sent to the junction of Long Causeway and Albert Road, Farnworth, after reports of a collision between a van and an ambulance.
Authorities reported the incident as a 'serious crash', although police have now confirmed that drivers and passengers only sustained minor injuries.
The ambulance is thought to have been responding to an emergency when the crash occurred, although there were no patients inside at the time.
A spokesman for Highways England said the section of roadway was "impassable" until the vehicles could be removed.
The closure is causing severe delays on the A575 Worsley Road, which is blocked both ways.
Coach firm Tyrers has confirmed that 713 bus for Castlebrook High School has been unable to pick up passengers at its first stop.
Long Causeway in Farnworth is closed due to a serious RTA. The 713 to @CastlebrookHS for @OfficialTfGM will not be able to pick up at it's first stop. Students who get on at Long Causeway please walk down to the bus stop at the junction of Higher Market St/Long Causeway. Thanks
