EMPLOYEES from Enterprise Rent-A-Car battled wind and rain to plant hundreds of trees at Bolton’s Smithills Estate as part of an extensive planting initiative which will see 28,500 new trees planted.
Enterprise supported the tree-planting day at the Smithills Estate as part of the company’s commitment to plant 50 million new trees in 50 years.
The development of woodland at Smithills is part of the wider establishment of a ‘Northern Forest’ that will be completed over the next 25 years and will see 50 million new trees planted across the North of England.

Gary Palmer, general manager for Enterprise Rent-A-Car in the North West, said: “It is a real opportunity for our employees to contribute to the development of the Smithills Estate and bring an important global tree-planting initiative to life in Bolton.
"The team really had to battle against the elements, facing wind and rain, as well as working on a very steep hillside. But it has been very rewarding and despite the conditions, we really enjoyed spending time in this iconic and stunning landscape.”
Smithills Estate is the largest Woodland Trust site in England and offers a rich mosaic of woodland, grassland, moorland and bog habitats.
