OVER Hulton Community Group is helping residents to save lives with a defibrillator awareness course tomorrow.

Jo Thwaites of the North West Ambulance Service will run the free event in the Fellowship Room, at St Andrews Church in Crescent Avenue.

She will be explaining and demonstrating everything there is to know about how to use the equipment effectively.

The first session starts at 1pm and will last an hour, followed by the second session at 2pm.

The Over Hulton community took possession of two automated external defibrillators last year.

The first one was donated by Bolton ICD Support and a public appeal was set up to buy the second one. It cost £1,050 but Atherton Dragons rugby team donated £500 and McColls store in the precinct put in a further £100.

The two units have been placed outside the Conservative Club on St Helens Road and next to Newbrook Pharmacy.
