SINCE 2007 there has been a significant fall in the number of officers employed by Greater Manchester Police.

Many people, including GMP Chief Constable Ian Hopkins have called for further funding to increase this.

Here are five facts about the police and the number of officers on the street:

£556m - This is the total figure GMP is set to receive in central government policing funding for the 2018/19 period.

347 - This is the number of crimes reported to police in Bolton town centre in the first month of 2019.

512,760 - This is the number of 999 calls that were made to the police in just one year, between 2016-17.

11.7% - In that same 2016-17 period, police solved just 31,487 of the 267,727 crimes recorded.
