STAFF at a new B&M store nominated a local charity to be supported at the shop opening.

Employees at the new store in Burnden Park Shopping Centre, off Manchester Road, invited Wipe Your Tears to officially unveil the new B&M.

Wipe Your Tears, which supports children with serious or terminal illnesses, also received £250 from the company as part of the opening.

Dawn Faulks, store manager, said: "The new store has been really busy since the doors first opened last Thursday and feedback from customers has been great so far.

“A huge thank you to Wipe Your Tears who helped us open the store, we hope that our donation can help them continue the outstanding work they do for the local community.”

The former Heron Foods store has undergone an internal and external refurbishment programme and created 6 new jobs for local people.

Another B&M will open on March 28 at the former Poundworld in Breightmet off Bury Road.
