DOZENS of jobs are at risk in Bolton’s Office Outlet store following the shock announcement that the chain has gone into administration.

But a glimmer of hope still remains that a solution can be found and a buyer will come forward.

The local store, formerly known as Staples, at Trinity Retail Park, is one of 90 nationwide facing an uncertain future.

Last year the management team instigated a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) in a bid to rid itself of under-performing stores and reduce its rent bill.

Spokesman Richard Hawes, who is overseeing the administration, said: “We are hopeful a buyer can still be found for the business in the coming weeks and we will continue to trade the business with that aim in mind.”

He said the chain had experienced a fall in stationery sales and this, coupled with a tough time for high streets in general, was to blame.

A spokesman for the Bolton store declined to reveal how many people are employed at the store or comment further when contacted by The Bolton News.
