AN award-winning pair of barbers have chosen Bromley Cross as the location of their next shop.

Slate Barbers will open in Darwen Road on Monday, April 8, two years to the day co-owners James Tresnan and Tom Shaw opened their first shop in Ramsbottom town centre.

The pair say they hope to replicate that success in Bromley Cross while bringing “something different” to the area.

James, aged 24, said: “Bromley Cross is a thriving area that is on the way up. It is a great location and it seems to have a great community vibe.

“We brought something different to Ramsbottom and we want to do that here as well.

“Hopefully we will hit the ground running and people will take to us.”

After honing their craft together in barber shops around Manchester city centre, Tom and James decided to open their own shop in Ramsbottom in April 2017.

Two years on, the business is flourishing and a further four barbers have been recruited in a bid to keep up with demand.

At November’s Made in Bury Business Awards, Slate Barbers took home the best start-up business award, with its owners putting the success down to offering a “high level of service in a modern environment”.

Once the new shop has been refurbished, it will house three chairs, with haircuts on an appointment-only basis. Should it prove to be a success, its owners say they have plans to open more shops elsewhere.
