ENGINEERS hope to repair a fault which forced a high school to close this week.
Operatives from Electricity North West were sent out to Westhoughton High School on Tuesday after a power cut at around 6.40am.
The school was closed for the day along with Westhoughton Community Leisure Centre.
There have now been multiple occasions on which the school has had to close because of electrical faults since November 2018
While investigating the issue, workers discovered an "underground cable fault". A generator was set up to restore power and the school was open today.
Now, workers are hoping to locate the faulty section of cable in preparation for permanent repairs tonight.
A spokesman for Electricity North West apologised to the school, pupils and parents for the disruption.
