A WOMAN was taken to hospital to be checked over after a suspected carbon monoxide leak.

Firefighters from Atherton were called to Devonshire Road, Atherton, late this afternoon after the alarm sounded.

Crews checked over the property and paramedics were also called along with the gas board.

A spokesman urged people to fit an carbon monoxide detector in the home.

He said: "The alarm was sounding and the woman was suffering from headaches.

"We carried out a precautionary check of the property and Cadent was also called."

He added: "As a safety message we would urged people to fit carbon monoxide detectors."
