PLANS to build 14 flats at a former town centre mill have been given the go ahead.
The industrial building in Bridgeman Street can now be converted to a mix of two, three and five bedroom apartments.
The three-storey building, known as Albion Works, is a typical example of a mill constructed in the late 19th or early 20th century, according to the application.
The footprint of the existing main building will remain the same with no additions or extensions, although the ancillary building in the rear yard area would be demolished.
The application by DBR Builders (NW) Ltd was approved by planning officers earlier this month.
Planning permission was granted subject to several conditions relating to drainage, landscaping and noise.
The developer must also share details of the brick colour and scheme with the council before the flats are occupied.
This applies to the new walls installed at the boundaries of the site.
The development must begin within three years.
