Around 130,000 jobs have been created in the north west in the last year.
Penny Applegate, Job Centre+ partnership manager for Bolton revealed the increase as the latest employment statistics were released.
Ms Applegate said: "Compared to last year the largest estimated increase as in the north west.
"That's where we're leading the pack. It's good news."
The national unemployment rate at the moment is 3.9 per cent, the lowest level in 44 years.
Northern Powerhouse Minister, Jake Berry MP, said: “More people in work and falling unemployment is great news for the people of the North West and the whole Northern Powerhouse.”
On Wednesday there will be a jobs fair for Job Centre+ customers held at the job centre in Black Horse Street.
Minister of State for Employment Alok Sharma said: "2019 has continued to be a record breaker, with the employment rate topping 76 per cent for the first time.
"Record female employment and unemployment falling below four per cent for the first time in 44 years."
