A NEW nightclub featuring a circus-themed floor and a games area is to open in the town centre.

SYN Nightclub is coming to the former home of Blind Tiger in Nelson Square and owner Chris Roberts hopes to open in the next four or five weeks.

Mr Roberts said: “We saw an opportunity that was there and the huge student base.

“There’s a lot of money being spent in the area and we thought that venue in the area fit the brand we have.”

Mr Roberts previously ran SYN in Liverpool, which closed when the building it was in changed hands, and is bringing the brand to Bolton.

He said: “In Liverpool everybody loved it and we had a fantastic relationship with the police.”

He says SYN will not be competing with the other nightclubs in Nelson Square like Level or Ikonic, but offering something different for customers.

Mr Roberts promised punters a more “relaxed atmosphere” featuring twists on recognisable house music.

At the moment Mr Roberts said the club is under going a full facelift inside, gutting the former gig venue and transforming the property into a three-floor club.

He said: “We’re starting again.”

Downstairs will be a bar and club area, while the middle floor will be devoted to pool tables and games. The third floor will get a circus-style makeover.

Mr Roberts said: “We’re trying to cater for everyone in the area. We don’t want to be your normal late-night club.

“We want to fit in and we’re trying to add to the area, we want something for local people and students.”

The club is committed to using local people to fill local jobs said Mr Roberts, he said he has hired local builders to do the work inside and wants to hire dozens of local people for bar jobs.

He advised people to follow SYN on social media for up to date job adverts.

In the coming weeks they will be sharing music mixes to give people a taste of what is to come.
