WEDDING season is approaching and The Fusilier Museum, Bury has launched a new exhibition showcasing bridal fashion through the decades.

Army Brides: Dresses through the Decades features wedding dresses from 1915 through to 2011.

The exhibition showcases nine dresses and looks at the changes in style and trends during the century. It also tells the fascinating stories behind the dresses and what it was like being an army wife through the decades.

Military wives have kindly loaned the dresses to the museum for the exhibition. The majority have been loaned by the wider Fusilier family, however some have also been loaned from other regiments.

The oldest dress included in the exhibition is the wedding dress of Mrs Kathleen Sutcliffe who married Captain Jack Sutcliffe an Officer of the 2/6th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers in 1915 before he went off to fight in the First World War.

The exhibition will run until June 21
